Dungeons Halloween Special


Master, master! The evil hunchbacks at Realmforge and Kalypso are in a holiday mood and have released a free Halloween- themed update for Dungeons – The Dark Lord, the critically acclaimed dungeon building strategy game. From 25th October to 13th November, all your dungeons will be crammed with pumpkins and cool new Halloween-themed gimmicks! Along with that, you’ll be able to play a completely new map and cast a most sinister spook-tacular spell!

For a limited time (25th October through 13th November), you can enjoy the following haunting content:

  • A new Halloween map, which includes all of the following Halloween features.
  • All your dungeons are randomly decorated with glowing Halloween pumpkins.
  • A new spell “Jack-o’-lantern” (What could it do? You’ll have to try it and see)
  • New background image for the main menu
  • Two new prestige gimmicks for you to build

A few additional notes:
  • All Halloween features can be disabled in the main menu
  • New global chat for the server selection UI in networking lobby has been added
  • The new content will be available via the Kalypso Launcher upon loading the game and as a Steam update

The Dark Lord: Trailer


Kalypso Media is pleased to announce the release of a new trailer for Dungeons – The Dark Lord today. The video, available at the link below, showcases some of the dark humor and gameplay that will make Dungeons – The Dark Lord a huge hit with fans of the strategy genre. The new trailer features story elements and gameplay from the game where players will be tasked to capture heroes and steal their precious soul energy, all while building bigger and better dungeons to plot the downfall of those who would dare oppose you. Dungeons – The Dark Lord will be available for Windows PC on September 30.

  • Four multiplayer modes for up to four players: Deathmatch, Piñata,King of the Hill and Survival
  • Entirely new, fully scripted and voiced single-player campaign

Into the Dark & Update released


Master, did you get the good news? As I just read in the latest issues of the DAILY DUNGEON and DUNGEON TELEGRAPH the Download-Package "Into the Dark" with additional content for Dungeons is now available. It contains 10 new sandbox-mode maps, 20 new prestige gimmicks and the brand new mission "Flowerdale" (with about 1.5 hours additional gameplay). It's available via the Kalypso Launcher. Further update 1.2.2. was released today! I still don't have a clue what this means, but here we go with the changelog:

  1. New Map 'Areion' (Mode Amusement, Sandbox, Soulsurvival, Survival)

  2. Single player menu: Maps can be sorted according to map type

  3. Description of map type added to the single player menue

  4. Improved modding possibilities: altering of CSV files, client/server scripting, ...

  5. Improved pathfinding in highly complex dungeons

  6. Rare crash during strike effects fixed

  7. Rare crash on the campaign map fixed

  8. Fog of War still active after defeat

  9. Traps don't stun heroes anymore if they have already been triggered

  10. Cancelling the 'Pessimism'-spell now stops the sound effect

"Into the Dark" announced


“Into the Dark” DLC Coming Soon to Windows PC


Kalypso Media USA, Inc. and Realmforge are pleased to announce an exciting new bundle of content will soon be available for their popular strategy/simulation game, Dungeons.  Titled “Into the Dark”, this new DLC pack will include one new mission (about 1.5 hours additional gameplay), 10 new sandbox-mode maps and 20 new prestige gimmicks. The new DLC will cost $3.99 USD / 3.99 GBP, and will be available via the Kalypso Launcher from within Dungeons on March 28 or as a digital download via most portals on April 4.

Content-Update 1.2.1 released!


Master, master, my hunchback itches! Usually, this tells me that the mysterious gods of the underworld called the DEVELOPERS have released a new update - whatever that means! Let me check, your Evilness! ... Ahh yes! Indeed the gods have brought us a new update and it even brings about a new game mode called amusement - sounds disgustingly jolly doesn’t it master?

Oh well, here is part of the changelog, your Sinisterness:

  1. Added new game mode "amusement" (the goal is to have heroes with full soul energy escape from your dungeon) and three maps: Fluffytown, Playground and Caverns

  2. Monsters now walk around a little and threaten nearby goblin workers

  3. Heroes now walk differently, depending on their mood

  4. Don’t kill dead heroes again when they are trapped.

  5. Fixed gui layout for uber-widescreen monitor settings.

Content-Update 1.2 released!


Look Master, the mysterious gods of the underworld, called "The DEVELOPERS" have sent us a new update! I have absolutely no idea what an update is, but it sounds good.


Here’s the changelog:

  • Upgraded DUNGEONS to use Microsoft .NET 4.0 (lower memory footprint, faster startup)

  • Modified graphic assets for Radeon R520 core compatibility (Radeon X1000 series)

  • Switched to hlsl shaders for lower memory footprint

  • Added ribbonbands for all weapons

  • Improved shader effect quality for many game object surfaces (crystal, lava, water, invisibility, ...)

  • ReturnToDungeonHeart spell now opens a portal that can be used to travel back. This will not work in old saved games however

  • Allow switching the game language in the in-game options

Content-Updates released!


Master, good news!

Kalypso Media and Realmforge Studios are pleased to announce another substantial Content and Bugfix Update for Dungeons, patching your game to version 1.1.2 via Kalypso Launcher.

To obtain this update, an online account and working internet connection is required. Please use your game's product key to register a free online account from within the Kalypso Launcher application.

All currently available and future Content Updates and free game expansions will be available for download via Kalypso Launcher exclusively.

  1. Fix: completely satisfied novice, mage and necromancer heroes can now use their townportal home without crashing the game.

  2. Language defaults to english if there is no available localization that is a better match for the user region setting of windows.

  3. Sidequest "water flowers" in Happy Hills: time limit of 5 seconds was completely removed as this was too short.

February 03, 2011 - Changelog for version

  1. Memory usage monitoring doesn't impact performance on any systems anymore.

Dungeons - Website online


Dungeons follows the mis-adventures of the foremost of all Dungeon Lords, who spends his time luring heroes into his labyrinthine creations with the promise of treasure and a good fight - only to be trapped by his ingenious devices. Once they are in his grasp, our Dungeon Lord must look after and cherish his new prisoners until they are more comfortable with their surroundings because come the "harvest", happy heroes have more precious soul energy for you to gleefully extract via twisted torture chambers!


In Dungeons, our protagonist falls victim to a devious plot hatched by his vile, nasty and thoroughly vicious ex-girlfriend and finds himself at the bottom of the underworld hierarchy and the top of the dungeon pile which in this world is about as bad as it can get. Our Lord must have his revenge, and make his way back down the dungeon levels to his rightful place - but first he must deal with his new bosses, the three despicable Dungeon Lords who stand in his way.       
At his disposal are his dim-witted goblin minions who dig tunnels and build rooms to lay out his lair and trap ever stronger and braver heroes who dare to enter, not forgetting to plot his revenge against his ex-girlfriend and his new bosses who think it‘s great fun to bombard him with useless tasks. It goes without saying that a malicious and sneaky creature such as our Dungeon Lord has more than a few tricks up his sleeve.

Revenge will be sweet indeed.
